My boss won't annotate in CAD, so I print to paper for him to annotate.
My client sends an updated drawing, and I have no idea what changed.
Why can I only open a 10mb file online?
READ-ONLY makes me feel like I'm back in 2011.
Creating notes and tables is a pain, and keeping them up-to-date is impossible.

We’re redesigning CAD so your team designs more, better.
10 million people open up drawings every week – plain old .dwg’s. There’s dozens of .dwg-based tools out there. But, the world still works with .dwg like the world used Microsoft Word™ back in 2004. Then, Google Docs™ came along and word processing became sexy. We’re bringing sexy back to .dwg. You deserve to be excited about your CAD tool. You deserve a better CAD experience. And, we believe in the opportunity of the cloud and SaaS to bring you that experience. Our mission is to reinvent the technical drawing ecosystem to make your workflows more efficient and more fun.Try Kudo
Our Visionary Crew
Robert – the lab’s software lead.
Born into CAD, his father started in the CAD industry in the 1980’s. Robert joined the family business in 2001 where he worked until being lured to pursue his PhD at Stanford University in 2009. His PhD focuses on how corporations institute environmental sustainability policies. But, I suppose he missed geometry, because now he’s back and focused on bringing awesome CAD to you via the cloud. Robert has various pastimes: kitesurfing, espresso drinking, wearing colorful belts and globe trotting. If you want to meet him, he’ll likely be traveling to a town near you soon.
Reid – makes SaaS happen.
He also is the CAD user on the team. In high school he convinced a local architect outside of Chicago to give him an internship and let him draw up his sketches in AutoCAD R12. He fell in love with architecture, technology and perhaps that one-man architecture firm even planted a seed for entrepreneurship. Reid studied structural engineering at Illinois and Berkeley, practiced at Arup San Francisco and then got industry funding to earn his PhD at Stanford. He caught the startup bug and shared an office with Robert. The one thing faster than Reid skiing down a mountain, is the speed at which our cursor snaps to an endpoint.
Gercek – the product architect.
He’s living and breathing CAD these days - he even locked himself inside an architecture firm to learn from users directly. Gercek has a computer science dual diploma from Bogazici University (Turkey!) and Binghamton University (New York!). A passionate designer (and lover), Gercek spends his time both pushing pixels and bending code. Prior to gCAD labs, Gercek worked at Redbeacon where he designed products for homeowners and pros. That explains why his house is in a constant state of improvement. When not at work, Gercek is either on the football field (soccer anyone?), kitesurfing or snowboarding. He teleports between Istanbul and San Francisco half a second slower than it takes our drawings to pop up in your browser.
Our Director on the Board
Wilfried – is the wise guide on our journey.
He knows when to learn from the past and when to look toward the future. He sets bold goals in such a reserved manner that it’s obvious we’ll achieve them like it’s obvious the sun will come up tomorrow. The calm belies a passion for CAD. CAD users deserve a better experience in the cloud. And we are the team best suited to deliver!
Our Awesome Partner
Graebert – Leading developer of CAD Software.
You might ask: Three dudes? How can you build a pro CAD platform with three dudes? The answer is Gräbert of course. Gräbert has been in this industry for 30 years and is the world’s 2nd largest DWG-based software vendor with 7 million users. Our lab might have three guys today, but Graebert has 100 guys and gals and many 100’s of man-years of work behind us. And don’t worry. gCAD labs will be 10 guys tomorrow. And 20 guys next week.
The world’s tallest building (Burj Khalifa), smallest chip (ARM Kinetis KL03), fastest car (Hennessey Venom GT), most real prosthetic (Case Western’s artificial hand). What’s the commonality? These things (and almost everything else) are designed by teams collaborating on desktop computer aided design (CAD) software. Whoah! “Desktop” and “collaboration” in the same sentence? Design teams need collaboration way more than sales teams. Why do we manage customers in the cloud and design on the desktop? Cloud CRM is easy. Cloud CAD is hard. We think hard is fun.
We’re developing the first professional grade horizontal CAD application in the cloud.
We know CAD. We need your experiences to make CAD better.
We’re doubling our talent in the next couple months.
We work out of this warehouse in San Francisco and are supported by Graebert’s offices in Berlin, Germany; Tokyo, Japan; St. Petersburg, Russia, and Noida, India.
